The CRC was opened in 1967 as Christian Holiday House.
The facilities were expanded to accommodate larger groups and in 1989 the name was changed to Christian Renewal Center. The facility was originally owned by the missionary order Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), a worldwide congregation of priests and brothers founded in post revolutionary France by St. Eugene de Mazenod and dedicated to evangelizing through the retreat format, Christ and His kingdom in this time and in this place.
In 2008, in a reconcentration of their efforts and mission, the OMI sought an organization that could carry on their own mission of evangelization in the Houston area.
Working together with a cooperative group from area churches, CRC Partners Inc. was formed and with a commitment to carry on the mission of the OMI, took over operation and management of the facility with the goal to purchase the CRC in the near future.
